On September 12th, 2019, members were able to participate in a webinar on "Current and Proposed Fur Product Regulations" organized by IACC Member, Grunfeld, Desiderio, Lebowitz, Silverman & Klestadt LLP.
During this one hour webinar the GDLSK team familiarized attendees with the very detailed federal regulations governing fur products. Such regulations require the accurate identification of fur, as well as mandate a label with specific information (e.g., fur animal name, fur animal origin, processes performed to the fur, etc.).
As of early 2011, the Fur Products Labeling Act (FPLA) regulations did not apply to articles/fur components valued at $150 or less. This exempted most apparel articles with fur trim from coverage under the Act. However, the exemption was rescinded in March 2011, making the Act applicable to all fur product imports.
